Our YellowJacket team showed incredible heart and determination at a tough tournament that featured some fierce competition, including wrestlers from Pennsylvania and Virginia. Despite the challenge, our athletes rose to the occasion, with Christian Zavala dominating his bracket to take 1st place, Diego Diaz securing 3rd, and William Garvine finishing strong in 4th. The YellowJackets proved that they could hang with some of the best, and every wrestler who competed came away with a win. It wasn’t just about the placements, but the heart they showed on the mat, never backing down from the challenge. The tournament highlighted the strength of our team and the dedication each wrestler has to pushing themselves further. With PA and Virginia talent filling the brackets, our YellowJackets more than held their own, showing what it means to represent our team with pride. It was a weekend to remember, with solid performances across the board. Newark scored 113 team points overall scoring high for the team rankings.
As the season winds down, there’s only one more duel meet left before we close out this year. Looking back, it’s clear that our team has made huge strides, both individually and as a unit. We’ve seen a lot of growth and improvement, and it’s been exciting to watch our wrestlers push themselves to new heights. One of the biggest highlights of the season has been scoring our first two wins since 2019, with victories over Mount Pleasant and St. E’s. These wins are a testament to all the hard work and dedication our team has put in, and it feels great to see that effort pay off. With just one duel left, there’s still time to finish strong and make the most of everything we’ve learned. It’s been a season of growth, and we’re ready to keep that momentum going into the future.
