Welcome to this month’s student style spotlight, where we strive to highlight a student for their unique sense of fashion. Learning about how other people dress can influence others and help them develop their personal wardrobes. Let us introduce Savannah Concepcion, a Junior at Newark High School. She would describe her style as being “out of the ordinary.”
Around age 13, Savannah began developing her style, starting out with some pieces and accessories, doing simple makeup designs. Don’t be afraid to start out small when changing your personal style, it doesn’t have to happen all at once! Overtime, she was able to slowly gain more pieces, and practiced her skills to establish a productive makeup and hair routine.
If interested in getting into this style of fashion, Savannah recommends shopping at second hand stores. Goodwill, Depop, and other local thrift stores can be great places to find pieces that are unique to you and come for a good price. If she could share any advice for those interested in fashion, Savannah would tell them, “Never buy from the biggest brands and try not to feed into micro trends. They harm the environment.”
