The Newark High School Marching Band has prepared a new original show for this year’s season. The program, entitled, “Ablaze,” pays honor to the “tradition of raising stones with runic inscriptions [which] first appeared in the 4th century.” As the program for this year’s show describes, “However, not all stones are made the same. This stone before you was divined with magical elements, hidden away from man, and preserved by the gods. The Fire Stone has astounding elemental powers that most cultures see as mythological. But those seeking the stone’s power have tracked it down to this very field, unaware of the Fire Spirits guarding within. Will its power prove beneficial or destructive to humanity?”
The Yellowjacket Marching Band is directed by Mike Archer. Drum Major’s Krupa Pathak and Mary Williams conduct this year’s show.
