The goal for the Festival of Words is to encourage children and young adults to read and write by introducing them to a bunch of authors, giving away free books, and bringing them into workshops that they have chosen. Newark High School had nine students and one recent graduate attend the all-day event.
This goal was certainly reached for me personally. One of the most interesting things I’ve learned when attending the workshops is that story arcs aren’t as simple as you have been taught. Some stories have complex story arch structures. Pixar movies are a good example of this. For example, you may remember that most movies often have a climax which is true, but you may not know that some movies can have TWO climaxes.
